Description / Scope of Work

Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan invites expressions of interest from highly qualified and experienced music practitioners to serve as senior music trainers and consultants for a capacity-building project at the Leif Larsen Music Centre in Hunza, a flagship initiative of the Aga Khan Music Programme supported by the Royal Norwegian Government. The assignment encompasses designing and delivering advanced master classes, conducting practical training workshops that blend indigenous Hunza musical traditions with South Asian classical music and contemporary forms, mentoring emerging musicians, leading advanced residencies and workshops in Karachi, and providing technical guidance on performance, composition, and professional practice. The project seeks to strengthen technical and professional capacities of young musicians while promoting and preserving the musical heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral through documentation and engagement with diverse musical practices.

Applicants must possess a nationally recognized reputation as a professional musician, composer, music educator, or producer with at least 20 years of demonstrated professional experience in music performance, composition, production, or education. Candidates should have extensive experience designing and delivering professional music training and mentoring programmes related to local Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral music traditions as well as contemporary classical forms, demonstrated experience working with young and emerging musicians at national and international levels, strong knowledge of Pakistani musical traditions alongside contemporary practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and prior engagement with cultural, educational, or development organizations. Relevant government or institutional affiliations and positions of responsibility in reputable arts and cultural organizations will be considered advantageous.

Interested individuals must submit a cover letter expressing interest, a detailed curriculum vitae, a portfolio highlighting relevant professional experience and major achievements, and contact details of at least two professional references. Applications should be submitted no later than 5 August 2026 to Muhammad Nawaz at muhammad.nawaz@akdn.org with the subject line Expression of Interest - Senior Music Trainer (LLMC Project). For queries, contact Abbas Hussain at abbas.hussain@akdn.org using the same subject line. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan is an equal opportunity organization and reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications without assigning any reason.

For Bidders: Our Analysis PAKISTANTENDER INSIGHT

This is a consultancy engagement (not a supply or construction tender) for senior music trainers to deliver capacity-building at a music centre in Hunza. The role requires 20+ years of professional experience, deep knowledge of Gilgit-Baltistan musical traditions, and proven mentoring credentials. The assignment spans master classes, workshops, residencies, and technical guidance across two locations. This is likely a medium-scale, project-based contract rather than recurring work, with a tight deadline (5 August 2026) and international funding backing suggesting serious commitment and professional standards.

Who can bid: Applicants must be recognized professional musicians, composers, educators or producers with minimum 20 years' experience in music performance, composition, production or education. Strong knowledge of Pakistani and Gilgit-Baltistan musical traditions required. Prior experience with cultural, educational or development organizations preferred. No specific registration (PEC, SECP, NTN) requirements stated, though typically such international-funded projects prefer SECP-registered consulting firms or documented freelance credentials.
