Description / Scope of Work
WWF-Pakistan, in partnership with GSK, is seeking consultancy services for research, development, and local manufacturing of Automated Weather Stations across urban and peri-urban landscapes in Karachi and Lahore, Punjab. This six-month consultancy assignment targets Academia/Researcher consultants to support the scaling up of locally developed, PMD-aligned weather monitoring systems that strengthen climate resilience and disaster preparedness in vulnerable communities. The initiative aims to translate academic expertise into practical, locally manufactured monitoring infrastructure capable of real-time weather observation, forecasting, and early warning within Pakistan's environmental context.
The consultant must possess demonstrated experience in research and engineering for automated weather systems, with proven capacity to engage academic institutions and design PMD-compliant prototypes. The assignment requires developing standardized protocols for data collection, validation, transmission, and integration with Pakistan Meteorological Department systems, as well as facilitating technical training for academic partners. No specific bid security or restrictive eligibility criteria are stated in the notice; however, applicants should typically hold relevant academic credentials, prior research publication record, or institutional affiliation in meteorology, environmental engineering, or related disciplines.
Interested consultants must submit proposals via the online application form available at https://forms.office.com/e/exNStCNxpM. The RFP reserves WWF-Pakistan's right to reject any proposal, conduct discussions with bidders for clarification, and award based on experience, qualifications, completion capability, and service cost rather than lowest price alone. Submission is voluntary and constitutes acknowledgment of all RFP terms, WWF Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy, and PMD alignment standards outlined in the scope of work.
